After nine years as a merchant navy officer, he decided to quit his job and turn to organic farming.

"What I appreciate about the group is that I don't have to wait for days to hear back from them — they respond in just 5-15 minutes!", says a farmer about the two Sangli friends who have been doing this in 7 states for 7 years!

It took him two years to make his first machine - a weeder, despite several failures, taunts from friends and doubt from his family.

The change was not limited to what he had to unlearn, but in a shift in his mindset. Since he genuinely enjoyed farming, the transition was not that difficult.

Anamika yearned for something that would help her break away from the shackles of the city, and one look at the land made her realise that this could be it. She spent time there, connecting with it.

Inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka’s principles of Natural Farming, Raghava decided to transform the coconut monoculture that he had inherited into a food forest without the use of any fertilisers, pesticides, cultivation or weeding.

What’s more? Sundaram Verma from Sikar district has also saved seven lakh litres of rainwater in just a couple of days!

Deb, though no agriculturist by training, was bothered with the apathy of the then agri-scientists who found it of no consequence that the native rice was dying out. They, in fact, promoted high yielding and hybrid varieties instead.

“When we were travelling for the course, we came across a strawberry field. Just as we were enjoying the view, we saw a person dressed in a white protective jumpsuit spraying some liquid on to the crops. It sent a chill down our spines."
