Silt and rock choke the rivers of Pachegaon, preventing rainwater from percolating into the soil; at the end of the monsoon, the groundwater reservoirs are devoid of water. Farmers are forced to migrate to sugarcane factories to earn a living.

After months of regular visits to the village and constant counselling, Rajshri had 50 villagers by her side who started working on rainwater conservation.
