Meet Dr Ranjitsinh Jhala — the man whose vision brought cheetahs back to India and reshaped wildlife conservation.

India has launched its first cheetah safari at Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh. With 16 cheetahs now in the wild, the project marks a historic moment in wildlife conservation and rewilding efforts after their extinction in 1952.

Seventy years after the Asiatic Cheetah was declared extinct in India, eight cheetahs were flown in from Namibia to the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Meet former IAS officer Dr M K Ranjitsinh, the brains behind the relocation project.
