Meet Trinity Saioo who started lakadong turmeric cultivation in 2003. Today one thousand acre of land spread across Meghalaya is producing the turmeric that yields profitable returns.

His alternative farming journey began with a small 100 sq ft unit on his terrace in Navi Mumbai. Its success led him to purchase a 15-acre land in Raigad.

"How different would our rural areas be if so many more take up such incredible challenges, instead of their expertise being laid to rest after retirement?," writes a deeply impressed IAS officer Armstrong Pame.

I grew up seeing my mother work really hard. She was all alone. Sometimes when we failed to get labour at the time of harvest, she had to bear heavy losses.

The school was founded in 2016, by Ashita and Anish Nath, a couple from Lucknow, whose journey towards this phenomenal decision is even more unusual.
