18 year old Chesta Gulecha, has spent the last 50 days cleaning up Khichan village in Rajasthan.

Though led by IAS Vishu, various stakeholders - from the EFI to the average citizen in Chidambaram - played a significant role in reviving lakes

“Cleanliness is not rocket science. All it requires is the coming together of various civic bodies and the citizens,” states Dinesh.

“We want to keep our beaches alive. And so regardless of whether we get enough local participation, we will continue our battle."

Having engaged more than 10,000 young people from over 250 schools across 60 cities and 15 countries, the eighth edition is all set to take-off.

These regular citizens wanted to improve their environment, and took matters into their own hands.

The river, which was once a supported livelihoods in the locale, has now been reduced to a mess. However, things are starting to get better!

Though the river provides a large percentage of water for irrigation and power generation, its water quality has reduced over the years.
