Champaran Satyagraha

The Champaran Satyagraha is a landmark chapter in India’s history, and an important catalyst for it was journalist Pir Muhammed Munis, whose letter to Gandhi set the stage for the monumental resistance.

Once topping the charts in child marriages in the country, Bihar has reduced the incidence of this social evil considerably, helped by innovative interventions such as starting girls clubs for solidarity, and encouraging them to play football.

Champaran Satyagraha was the movement responsible for putting Gandhi on the front seat of Indian nationalist movement and making satyagraha a powerful tool of civilian resistance.
