As Assam’s cities grow, students in Golaghat are stepping in to protect birdlife. Through building nests and engaging the community, they are creating a network of safe spaces where birds can survive amidst urban expansion.

For 27 years, Pannalal Mahto of Jharkhand has mimicked bird calls, healed the injured & built 500+ nests, reviving sparrows and turning his village into a sanctuary.

Kaziranga National Park, famed for its rhinos and tigers, just added a new feather to its cap — literally. In its first-ever grassland bird census, 43 bird species were identified, including the endangered Finn’s Weaver, offering rare hope for India’s shrinking grassland ecosystems.
