Bharatnatyam dancer

Ujjwala Sahane was contemplating ending her life when her daughter had a fall that left her deaf and paralysed. A Bharatnatyam dancer today, this is her story of hope.

Rukmini Devi Arundale wanted to transform the way people looked at Bharatnatyam, a dance form which was once performed only by devadasis. She and her husband established a dance and music academy called Kalakshetra at Adyar near Chennai to encourage others to learn such art forms.

For 13 year old Sairi Rahangdale, dance is not just about name, fame and money. It's also about changing the lives of underprivileged children for the better.
