Alternate Education

Every summer, as nomadic families move to Kashmir’s high pastures, their children walk miles to study in tent schools. These mobile classrooms are taking education to places where no road or building can reach.

Sarang Hills is a repository of knowledge gathered over 30 years of saying no to formal education, living close to nature and learning from everyday life.

Jhamtse gatsal is Tibetan for ‘a garden of love and compassion’. The outcome being worked towards is empowering each child in whatever choices they make.
