"We have been educating our customers to pack the leftover food and donate it. In addition to the leftovers from our outlet, people of the city also donate food regularly. Sometimes we also have fresh food left in the fridge.”
The two-floor hotel is well-equipped with a modern steam kitchen which can feed close to 2000 people on a daily basis, along with a waste management plant, a water treatment plant and an elevator to bring the food upstairs.
The initiative has been envisioned in collaboration with Petronet LNG Foundation and Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association Ernakulam District Committee and is expected to start its operations on February 1.
Initially introduced at Ernakulam’s jail by Jail Superintendent K. Anil Kumar when he was stationed in the city, Anil Kumar made sure to carry the compassionate deed forward when he got a transfer to Kozhikode.
