Good films apart, an unusual trend this year was Bollywood's openness to take up subjects that are apart from the usual, but perhaps much needed nowadays.

Haidry’s debut film as a lyricist was ‘Gurgaon’. He wrote two songs for the film – ‘Aiyyash Chore’ solo and ‘Udi’ in collaboration with Varun Grover.

The Oscars is notorious for 'white-washing' and under-representing the cinema world's female and ethnic talent. Things could be changing however as a host of Bollywood's finest have been invited to next years ceremony.
