The campaign has been a raging success in Mumbai where this group of environmentally-conscious citizens from the NGO have collected over 100 tonnes of plastic, electronic and other recyclable waste from housing societies and in turn gifted a whopping 20,000 bags across the city.

These stalwarts will be conferred with the prestigious award, to recognise their efforts.

23-year-old Majiziya Bhanu took the competition by storm with her unique physique wearing a hijab.

Managed by 15 women per vehicle under the Federation of Stree Shakti groups, these mobile canteens will serve freshly prepared breakfast and lunch across all 30 districts in the state.

"The idea of being cruel to another person just because she is a female perturbs my inner core," says Joy.

The decision was taken after a trial run, where the railway supervisors found a 66 per cent increment in earnings from penalties and fines by the end of the day!
