The Waste Samaritan initiative is a door-to-door waste monitoring solution undertaken as a pilot project in Domlur Layout’s ward number 112, with the support of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.

Now, on a daily basis, the cops compost nearly 4 kg of wet waste that is generated mostly from the office canteen.

The goal is to find an eco-friendly way to dispose of waste and MSRDC is determined to achieve it.

Waste-pickers face an uphill task in gaining recognition for their important work. A Pune-based waste-pickers’ cooperative hopes to change the apathy faced by these workers.

Mrinal Rao and Anjana Aiyyer, two Bengaluru-based entrepreneurs, have come up with a brilliant bin that recycles wet and organic waste right at the source, collecting the by-products separately for use in a hassle free manner.
