Here are the 10 wonder women of India that we would like to honour with The Better India Spotlight, 2018.

As the year comes to an end, here are 14 stories of people who deserve to be praised for their courage, and have inspired us to follow in their footsteps.

"Our seniors relieved us, and requested as many of us as possible to help in any way. We are helping to manage traffic flow, to give space to rescued residents and aid fire extinguishers in accessing the fire without hindrance."

"Rage was boiling in me as I watched the terrorists firing at the passengers. So, I continued making announcements so the innocent people could be safe. While we could see the terrorists, thankfully, since we were sitting on the first floor, they could not see us."

What makes the story even more endearing is that, besides being part of many (bomb) search operations for over a decade, the four were best buddies and inseparable.

On Friday, when about 20 students were inside the classroom, and the others were playing outside, a fire broke out at the premises of a play school.

Fearing that the electric panel next to her flat would catch fire, she quickly alerted her own family. Her husband Girish rushed out with her four-year-old daughter, so did her mother and a friend who was living with them.

Yogesh Chavan was heading to his home in Satara after completing his night duty at the Kothrud fire station when he saw the bus on fire.
