Sneha Shahi from Gujarat is one of the 18 young activists affiliated with UNEP’s Plastic Tide Turner Campaign and winner of the Youth for Earth Award.

One of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) registered programmes in Kerala for June 5, the drive witnessed large scale planting of trees, cleaning of the nearby catchment area and forested stretch as well as a collection of about 15 sacks of plastic waste.

These actions serve as perfect examples and can be taken up by other states as well.

On a daily basis, it is reported that Meghalaya generates over 500 hundred tonnes of garbage, out of which its capital city, Shillong, roughly accounts for a staggering 150 tonnes alone!
