An officer celebrated by his colleagues and common citizens alike, Shetty has a village in Karnataka named in his honour by grateful locals. He will be deeply missed.

"Despite financial crunch, he never let my studies suffer, my school fees were always paid on time, and I got all the books I needed. He would go on duty, and we would not meet for months, but he kept a tab on our studies and activities in school by inquiring from his peers in the city."

Recognising the bravery of the two girls, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Alwar, Rahul Prakash, rewarded them with Rs 1000 each.

Telangana Superintendent of Police, Rema Rajeshwari, has been going out of her way to put together a team of Village Police officers who are trained to visit water bodies particularly in rural areas to create awareness about the safety precautions to be taken to prevent drowning deaths among kids.
