Sonali Ghosh, Kaziranga’s first woman Field Director, is leading bold conservation efforts to protect one-horned rhinos from floods, poachers, and new threats.

What began as a childhood fascination for Sonali grew into a passionate career in forest & wildlife conservation. She broke barriers & became the first woman field director of Kaziranga National Park.

Sonali Ghosh, who assumed the role as the field director of Kaziranga National Park on 1 September, 2023, grew up having a close affinity to animals. By the time she completed her graduation in life sciences, her affinity had turned into a full blown passion. Being in forest and wildlife conservation for decades, she recalls the hurdles, challenges and offers a glimpse into her life now.
