Khem Lal Khaterji was once a child labourer in Uttar Pradesh, who was abused and tortured. Today, his organisation SAANS (Shramik Adhikar Aur Nyaya Sangathan) is rescuing others from the same plight.

Reports suggest that close to 1500 cases of children who, as per a UNICEF survey, were trafficked from only five blocks in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district alone, from 2012 to 2014.
