Students of Samta Hindi Vidyalaya, Turbhe initiated a cleanliness drive on October 2nd to make a point. Instead of blaming the authorities and municipal corporations, one should set an example by cleaning the mounds of garbage.
An initiative of the Pune police, 'Police Kaka’ was introduced in the city’s schools and colleges to help students reach out to for help whenever they need.
“We make them learn alphabets and counting and tell them stories. Once they are old enough to walk to the government middle school by themselves, they get direct admission in a suitable class depending on their age,” says Meena.
“The villagers want to ensure that the school continues to function despite the problems they are facing. It just shows the importance they place on giving their children access to education.”
In the rural and tribal areas of Chhattisgarh, women are traditionally relegated to household work in deeply patriarchal settings. However, three women are changing this status quo and pushing for education for the region’s children.
