As the country gears up for its annual festival of voluntary giving, DaanUtsav, a Mumbai non-profit is prepping to host what could arguably be India’s biggest Plastic Recyclothon.

Snack manufacturers, like PepsiCo India, ITC and Cavinkare have shown enthusiasm in altering their current ways to meet the plastic ban in various states, including Maharashtra.

Besides tackling the menace of paper waste, Neerja Palisetty has also opened up doors of livelihood opportunities for a handful of women in Jaipur, who spin the yarn with charkhas at their homes.

"The ban will be primarily on plastic carry bags, plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic flags, small plastic sachets used in packaging water, among others."
