After Himanshu Kalia nearly lost his father due to delayed treatment, he and his wife Twinkle started free ambulance services to ferry those in need of urgent medical attention across Delhi

“We were not part of any NGO. We were just individuals trying to do whatever best we can to make our education beneficial not just for us, but also our society.”

It took him two years to make his first machine - a weeder, despite several failures, taunts from friends and doubt from his family.

Through attention-grabbing and light-hearted cartoons, he highlighted a variety of social ills such as poverty, traffic woes, pollution, degradation of the environment, urban life, the poor state of urban infrastructure, to millions of people.

The Squadron Leader piloted a failed MiG 29 despite an injury, and risked his life in landing the plane safely.
