Ever thought about how great it would have been if you could know about the quality of a road before driving on it? Or if there could be some way for authorities to find out which roads they need to fix first?
A group of alert citizens in Mumbai has developed an app to help people report potholes on the roads. They are now trying to work with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) so that the authorities can find and fill these potholes.
On July 28, 2015, Dadarao Bilhore lost his 16-year-old son after a road accident that took place because of an open pothole. Since then, every time this Mumbai resident sees potholes on the streets, he fills them up with his bare hands – as a way to pay tribute to his son.
Road Transport and Highways Ministry has proposed the use of thermocol in place of soil to fill potholes on roads. With the use of thermocol, a brand of Geofoam, the cost of road repairs and the time required for it will be significantly reduced.
He starts his car every morning and roam across Hyderabad roads to repair the potholes. He has filled over 1,125 potholes so far and has exhausted his pension in this process. Know more about the amazing and selfless changemaker.
