EcoKaari by Nandan Bhatt collects plastic waste from all parts of the country to manufacture clothes, handbags, home decor and office stationery.

Nandan Bhat’s Pune-based social enterprise, EcoKaari upcycles plastic waste into handcrafted fabrics using handlooms and wooden spindles (charkha).

The 23-year-old founder and CEO of Thaely, Ashay Bhave upcycles hundreds of kgs of plastic waste into chic sneakers that sell for Rs 7000 a pair. His brilliant idea has blown away Anand Mahindra and the rest of India's startup ecosystem.

Ten students of ENACTUS-UBS in Mumbai are upcycling plastic bottles to create hydroponic planters that also help save water.

“Being a teacher, I am always concerned about issues related to the village where I work. This initiative inspires cleanliness, as well as revenue,” says 35-year-old Mathematics teacher Lomas Dhungel.
