“We were four siblings and making ends meet with my father’s salary was not at all easy. I studied in a school that was around 15 km away from my home and travelled everyday by various modes; which included walking.”
Mohanta says that he also often goes to schools to talk to the students about reusing plastic bottles. He says, “I tell them that plastic takes forever to decompose and dumping it is of no use, so we should reuse them.”
“What kept me going with each attempt was the incremental success which I got with each exam I attempted. With that conviction I kept preparing,” he says.
His first attempt at the Civil Service Examination was a month after he graduated in 2017. While Akshat could not clear the attempt, he says it was a great learning experience for him.
