To promote air travel, the UDAN scheme caps domestic flight tariffs at Rs 2,500 per hour. The balance amount in the airfares is covered by the government as part of the subsidy. The state governments also waive airport charges and taxes on aviation turbine fuel.

The state government has set aside 500 crores from its own resources to fund the scheme which has been named the 'Kalinga Sikshya Sathi Yojana'
