National Bravery Awards

The year was 1957, and Nehru was attending a Ramleela performance, where 14-year-old Harish, who was a Boy scout, was guarding the VIP enclosure.

These 18 children, including seven girls and 11 boys aged between 6 to 18, have been honoured for their display of courage with the National Bravery Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24, 2018.

The National Bravery awards will be given to 25 children for 2016, four of whom will receive them posthumously. The awards were first introduced in 1957, and are given in five different categories.
