Atmaram Markende, 24, founded Shramik Adhikar Aur Nyay Sangathan (SAANS) in 2020 to help bonded labourers, who are stuck slaving away in various parts of the country.
During the lockdown, there has been a fair amount of attention on adult migrant labour, but absolutely no debate, policy, or government directive on children.
The ‘SOLO 0.1’ also has a solar panel (600W), water tank (250 ltrs) and a lounge space with shade in the terrace. Talk about easy living in small spaces!
"These parents, who are migrant labourers, don't have a safe place to leave their children. Although I cannot guarantee all of them will go to formal schools, but I can guarantee their care for those four hours in a day, feeding, educating and even getting them fresh pairs of clothes."
A grand initiative, combining state and civil forces, brings hope to a generation of children almost lost to child labour and poverty. #Respect #NoToChildLabour
“In Hindi the word Samarth means self-sufficient, and that is exactly what I want to make these children. While empowering them with knowledge is one way I also want to teach them a skill they can use to create a livelihood for themselves.”
