In 1978, Naik was a labourer on a farm where areca palm and coconut trees were grown. That time, Naik did not even have a house of his own and he was gifted the land by his land owner.

When he was requested by mosque authorities, the temple chief happily agreed to offer 12 cents (486 sq m) of his land for the extension.
