Kerala's Meenangadi is using 'Tree Banking' to become carbon-neutral by 2025. This scheme pays farmers to plant and maintain trees, ensuring a steady income while also benefitting the environment.

In their early thirties, Binu and Benny wanted to cultivate something that their farmer parents had never tried, and they wanted to do it on a large scale.

The town has already conducted a soil audit, plant population census, energy audit, and more. There is also a concerted campaign against the usage of plastic bags in the region.
