Maharashtra plastic ban

Snack manufacturers, like PepsiCo India, ITC and Cavinkare have shown enthusiasm in altering their current ways to meet the plastic ban in various states, including Maharashtra.

On June 23, 2018, Mumbaikars from the Thakur village in Kandivali, performed last rites and organised an official funeral for plastic items to mark the day the Maharashtra plastic ban came into effect.

Suddenly, all the plastic stored away in houses seems to be a burden for many. Since plastic bags cannot be used anymore in Maharashtra, what can one do but store it away?

While some people are applauding this bold move by the government, there are criticising it. However, this Pune restaurant has smoothly adapted itself to support the plastic ban.

Steep fines starting from Rs 5,000 moving up to a whopping 25,000 will be imposed on those found with these items.

The state government, as part of its ambitious plastic ban project, has directed PET bottle manufacturers and recyclers to set up PET bottle collection machines in over 100 popular spots across Mumbai in the next 15 days.
