West Champaran District Magistrate Kundan Kumar, a 2012-batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, launched a unique 'Startup Zone' for returning migrant workers. Mapping their skills, arranging for bank loans and other support systems promoted entrepreneurship and created jobs too.

“Locals start seeing wildlife and animals as their enemy. Our job is to create a narrative that these animals are not their enemies.”

Unwilling to be stifled by red-tapism, these 10 dedicated civil servants went above and beyond their duty in 2018 to change India for the better.

Such has been the success of this innovative project that the Centre is replicating it across 5,000 village schools in India!
