Earlier this month, IGNOU announced that it had scrapped tuition fees for transgender individuals. Since the announcement, the university reports that it has received 100 applications from the community already.

For the eligibility, either the certificate issued from the central or state government, or a medical officer will have to be submitted by the candidates or they could produce their Aadhaar cards.

IGNOU will soon start diploma and certificate courses in RTI. The are expected to roll out by mid-2016 and early-2017 and will be compulsory for all central government employees.
