HRD Ministry

The total number of years a student spends within the school education system remains the same. What changes with the policy is how the years are split.

As part of this project, all the duplicate and redundant portions will be edited out, leaving the students with concise, crisp textbooks. The ministry promises that this reduction will be scientific.

The solution won the top prize among 50 finalists in the pan-India contest, organised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The HRD Ministry's latest initiative will track the academic progress of students and will also help identify and prevent dropouts.

Smriti Irani, India's HRD minister, has announced that over 12,000 higher education textbooks will be available for free in an electronic format. Learn more about this initiative here.
