During Shalini’s treatment of chronic back pain, the sister-duo stumbled upon the benefits of hemp in pain management, and eventually started ‘India Hemp and co.’, which today earns them Rs 50 lakh in revenue.

Sisters turned women entrepreneurs, Jayanti and Shalini Bhattacharya founded their startup India Hemp & Co in Bengaluru to sell hemp hearts, hemp trail mix and hemp protein powder.

"There’s a lot of stigma around hemp as most people usually think of it as the plant from which bhang or marijuana is made. But there's a difference," explains Chirag Tekchandaney about why the plant is a win-win for the economy as well as the environment.
