“I observed that the dropout rate was extremely high in the school and my first challenge was to change this. It did not help that the school had no infrastructure,” says Kotresh.
“We met several contractors and finally found one who said that the project could be completed in Rs 1.76 lakhs. We also got volunteer engineers on-board to help us out.”
“I have always sought to develop quality infrastructure which would allow students of government schools to compete with their private counterparts," says the officer who himself sends his daughter to a govt. school.
As you walk into the school, the entryway is filled with posters and bright charts espousing the virtues of sustainable development and Swachh Bharat. The school also has also withdrawn dustbins from classrooms to help students be mindful of the waste they generate.
"The gram panchayat can use the salary to further develop the school. There are parts of this country where teachers do not even come to school. With this message, I want to prove to the children in this village that I am dedicated to their education," says headmaster G Satish. #Respect #Inspiration
