Post-retirement, in 1993, Dr Mahendra Prasad Singh returned to his village in Raipura and dedicated his life to the upliftment of the rural youth.

After completing his graduation in 1994, he first attempted to crack the UPSC. One attempt turned to two, and two turned to four attempts. To no avail.

The rate of success reflects in the steady rise of the number students who cleared the personality interview from 84 students in 2016 to over 93 this year.

While the scheme is stipulated to be rolled out this month for 100 youth, it will later be extended to 5,000 students the following year.
