Forest guards

For nearly four decades, Dimbeswar Das has patrolled Kaziranga’s forests, facing bullets, floods, and death threats to keep the one-horned rhino alive.

Professor U Pruthviraj, the Head of E-Mobility Projects at the Centre for System Design at NITK, Surathkal, and his team of students have built the VidhYug 4.0 e-bike that forest guards can use to monitor their surroundings.

"We were soaking in sweat on that freezing morning. I was worried more about Arjun and Vishnu than myself. On returning, we described the entire episode to the officials. After we did, the two other guards got a high fever."

This year’s tournament, which was flagged off on March 11, is currently going on and will conclude on Saturday.
