Uday Vijayan lost his son during the Carlton Towers tragedy in 2010. Now, he works with his team and state governments, building blueprints and creating awareness around fire safety.

The blast killed over 700 people and injured 2,500 others. In the memory of the firemen who lost their lives, 14th April is observed as the Fire Brigade Day in Mumbai.

From the ashes of the Carlton Towers fire was born Beyond Carlton, the first-of-its-kind initiative in India that is aimed at making the common man more aware about various aspects of fire safety.
