Since its inception in 2008, Drishti Marine’s 450-plus strong force of lifeguards has saved approximately 7,700 lives from drowning off Goa’s coastline, claims its chairperson Rajiv Somani.
A drowning victim must be ideally reached in three or four minutes. Lifeguards cannot swim this fast in the open seas or in a lake. But the drone can race to the rescue!
Telangana Superintendent of Police, Rema Rajeshwari, has been going out of her way to put together a team of Village Police officers who are trained to visit water bodies particularly in rural areas to create awareness about the safety precautions to be taken to prevent drowning deaths among kids.
