Dalit women

PV Satheesh, the founder of Deccan Development Society, played a pivotal role in improving the livelihoods of thousands of women largely from the Dalit community across 75 villages in Telangana through the the magic of millets. He passed away recently on 19 March.

Reeta Kaushik, from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, has fought casteism at every turn. Having completed her post-graduation with great difficulty, she started Samudayik Kalyan Evam Vikas Sansthan (SKVS) that aids in vocational and skill training and has taken mainstream education to thousands of girls in villages.

These Dalit women farmers have joined hands to fight and stake their claim on the 'gairan' or the common grazing land for cultivation.
