She sustained head injuries while travelling on the road. And instead of getting disillusioned with the lack of response shown by authorities, Devi and her family members took matters into their own hands.

Even as the grief of losing their son was tearing them apart, Dadarao decided to do something nobody expected. Armed with broken paver blocks, gravel, stones and shovel, he started filling every pothole he witnessed within one month of Prakash’s passing.

On July 28, 2015, Dadarao Bilhore lost his 16-year-old son after a road accident that took place because of an open pothole. Since then, every time this Mumbai resident sees potholes on the streets, he fills them up with his bare hands – as a way to pay tribute to his son.
