Cloth based menstrual pads

From distributing reusable pads to planting 30,000 saplings, Tarun Kumar’s Nischay Foundation is turning Jharkhand’s villages into models of sustainable menstrual hygiene.

Remarkably, this breakthrough came in a region where some 25 per cent of menstruating women still use old clothes and periods are considered a taboo!

With more awareness about the environmental damage caused by sanitary waste rising among people, many women are switching back to a practice followed by our grandmothers or mothers in the olden days—homemade cloth pads.
