From Independence through Emergency and beyond, cartoonist and political satirist Shankar wasn't afraid to make fun of influential leaders.

Through attention-grabbing and light-hearted cartoons, he highlighted a variety of social ills such as poverty, traffic woes, pollution, degradation of the environment, urban life, the poor state of urban infrastructure, to millions of people.

Drawing since he was a toddler, Lakshman started his Facebook page in August 2015. He quickly rose to fame with his Tamil puns and hilarious take on life.

The character of the Common Woman was introduced on World Cartoonist Day, celebrated on May 5.

Pinki and Billu's innocent acts won everyone's hearts. Pran left a lasting legacy behind as he succumbed to cancer on August 6, 2014.
