Anandibai Joshi, Kadambini Ganguly, Rukhmabai Raut, Haimabati Sen, Muthulakshmi Reddy and Mary Poonen Lukose – written out of history, India’s first women doctors were trailblazers.

Hailing from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Dr Shiny Kaki is no ordinary general physician. Over the last three years, she has served in conflict zones marred with civil wars and helped save civilians wounded in wars and successfully saved lives during epidemic outbreaks.

When J&K witnessed a horrifying flood, several doctors and patients spent four days in a hospital without food and electricity. From operating without resources and delivering C-section babies without anaesthesia to pumping air in patients' lungs manually, these doctors did everything they had to do to save the stranded flood victims.
