Given that Bengaluru airport generates a large quantum of waste each day, BIAL will use the plastic waste collected through this drive to pave its internal roads. “The #PlasticBeku campaign is one initiative that we believe can change the world,” says Chandramouli.

For all those arm-chair critics, this is a chance to make a real difference. Adopt a street and set an example worth following. Under this initiative, the first activity will be a ‘Basic Clean-Up’, which will be conducted immediately, following which, the cleaning will be done at regular intervals in consultation with the BBMP.

“The first three-four months were very tough. The chemotherapy sessions were very intense. We also learnt that the chances of recovery are as high as 90 per cent in children below the age of 14,” says 48-year-old Monica.

“If you ask me today where I got the courage from, I genuinely do not have the answer. I just knew I had to do something to come out of it. I only had two pairs of clothes and a pair of slippers. The first two days I was out of the house I was just lost and so scared. It took me two-three days to get my bearings right and that is when I found the dormitory that I stayed at,” Chinu reminisces.

"Reliving certain moments and coming up with a different end might help people overcome trauma, and it also gives you the chance to look at the situation from another person's perspective."

Sujata says that unless and until any of their guests explicitly mentioned needing a plastic mineral water bottle, they stuck to the glass bottles for serving water.
