After a review meeting last Friday, Transport minister H M Revanna asked the concerned officials at KSRTC & BMTC to draft a policy which will give incentives to women candidates willing to take up driving heavy transport vehicles for the state transport.

To kickstart the project, BMTC officials have requested a budget of Rs 2.25 crore from the Centre under the Nirbhaya fund.

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) launched its Intelligent Transport System (ITS) on May 25. It is being called the first such system in India and has been applied to 6414 buses.
