He was honoured with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his contribution to the 1965 and 1971 wars.

Born on April 15, 1919 in Lyallpur, Singh came from a family of defence personnel. He was only 19 when he was selected for the Empire Pilot training course at Royal Air Force (RAF), Cranwell.

97-year-old Air Marshal Arjan Singh, who led the IAF during the Indo-Pak war in 1965, was honoured with an air base named after him for his valour and dedication.
