American Sikhs are often subjected to discrimination and prejudice mostly due to a lack of understanding about their faith. This new ad campaign by advocacy group 'We Are Sikhs' aims to tackle such treatment by spreading awareness of the community and their beliefs.

In a country as diverse and varied as India, lack of awareness about all cultures and regions is a high possibility. When this ignorance translates into racial discrimination, it can have grave consequences.

The video has gone viral with more than 1.9 million views and many have commended Ram for taking a strong stance.

After an encounter with this Indo-African community in Karnataka, India, I learnt that there are many faces of India and that being 'Indian' is more then skin deep.
