From buying biodegradable bags at wholesale rates to labelling stainless steel containers, green warrior Sankaran Moosas truly embodies the phrase of 'practice what you preach'.

The concept is simple – for every kilogram of plastic waste that a person donates, they get one kilogram of rice in return. Within days of launching this initiative, the group collected almost 400 kg of plastic waste from the town.

Around 2,400 kilos of plastic items were collected from this initiative on the very first day itself! #PlasticFreeIndia #LiveGreen

The couple had already been planning to buy a plot of land near Nanital, and saw this method of reusing plastic waste as a means to make a real difference.

The eco-friendly fuel alternative made from plastic can be used can be used to fuel generators, industrial boilers, and furnaces, among others.

Project Mumbai is back with their successful Recyclothon. Their ongoing campaign — ‘Plastic Recyclothon: Ek Baar Phir’, flagged off on 2 October and to go on till 8 October, has already seen more than 1.25 lakh people volunteer to give away their plastic waste.

To keep up the good work, the Municipal Corporation of the city has now taken a step towards eliminating single-use plastic cutlery not only in government offices but in food joints and private functions too.
