Reaching out to over 42,000 people, READ India is an organisation that believes in empowering rural communities to alleviate global poverty.

Since August 2015, through self-help groups, women have been able to save Rs 19.04 lakh and distribute internal loans worth Rs 57.76 lakh cumulatively.

Through her works, Meena has emerged as a bold and unapologetic young voice in the country and has stayed true to her identity, carving out space for resistance and dissent.

With that one series, Priyanka Paul became an overnight star on the social media platform. Today she has over 25,000 people following her handle - artwhoring.

Her extensive efforts in the area of effective waste management, repairing roads into the villages and setting up street lights have also earned her praise.

From empowering women to making them more confident and self-dependent, Mann Deshi has played a crucial role in the lives of rural women.

The women were trained by C Srinivasan, an environmentalist, who has been sharing his ideas of making the best use of waste on esteemed platforms like Satyamev Jayate and TEDx.

Sandhya Marawi, a 30-year-old woman, is among the 45-odd porters at the Jabalpur station and works shoulder to shoulder with her colleagues.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy's views on social norms during his times are evident--he wanted to eradicate the dominance of superstitions and patriarchy from society. A staunch feminist, Roy strongly advocated for a women's right to property inheritance too.
